WHAT IT'S ABOUT—
A Pack for Ravens, sometimes referred to as "Raven Pack", is a body horror, shifter erotica/novelette that follows the relationship of Nexi and Eshe falling in love and also learning each other's secrets. It takes place in an unknown forest that Wolves and Ravens share just before the equinox hits and just as each clan is preparing for their yearly traditions.
THE PROCESS—
This release is just under 30 pages and about 11'000 words long. Unlike Feathertouch, which got to explore some realistic characters over a longer period of time, A Pack for Ravens is my take on non-human relationships and the unconventional courting habits that may occur. This story is actually inspired by some pictures and a video I've seen of real-life wolves and ravens playing together.
At that time, I originally planned for this to be something completely different. I always love writing exploratory action scenes, so I wanted this to use characters based off those animals to fulfill that itch. Unfortunately, this is also a very oversaturated want in my mind, so this idea/desire ended up being shelved for a few years. Later, I was going over things that I really wanted to write, whether or not I had an idea for them, and while I was entertaining OCs to use, I remembered that I still had these unnamed characters waiting in the wings. And now here we are.
Since this story is incredibly short, I wanted to create a major impact with them. Chiefly, I wanted to include some kind of eroguro because I had been jonesing for the longest time to write something along those lines. My usual inspiration for eroguro comes from both Toki and MADK. There are others out there that I also like, but these two usually hit the exact aesthetic that I enjoy.
ADDITIONAL THOUGHTS—
Releasing this on Friday the 13th was nothing short of serendipitous. I was so excited to write and release this; I actually ended up editing this in the 11th hour for some final edits, and I'm really glad that I listened to my gut instinct to do that.
I ended up drawing the graphics myself, but I had a friend help me polish up the final versions. If it wasn't for them, I don't feel that this story would have been anywhere near as impactful. But that, of course, is just my opinion.
