It’s been a while since I’ve released a book, but this is the first one that I’m releasing under the Megane/メガネ penname. So, let’s talk about it.
WHAT’S IT ABOUT—
Feathertouch Impact is an erotic M/M novella/anthology depicted within a limited understanding of the Korean pop industry. The book follows Hwa Young and Yuseong of the internationally acclaimed Korean idol superduo FaBLE and the ways that they find time for each other (or push each other over the edge.) Because of its erotic nature, readers can enjoy a variety of kinks such as roleplaying, exhibitionism, somnambulism, cockwarming, men being happy nerds, and more.
THE PROCESS—
The book is over 80 pages with five chapters and was genuinely a thrill to write from beginning to end. I sort of wrote this like a man possessed over the period of... four or five days? And then, editing took another two. At the time I wrote this, I was practically losing my mind from other real life things going on, so when the idea came into my mind, I thought, “Sure, why not?”
I don’t usually write a lot of modern things that don’t have any deity-related elements or magical twists somewhere. I tend to write larger than life urban fantasy things, and if I go modern, I try to something that’s very bombastic to me. I used to write a ton of sci-fi ten years ago, but every so often, I pop into my “What if I just wrote [xyz]” moods.
Because of what I’ve been writing over the years and because of what I’ve released both as Megane and other names (so... so, so many other names), I’ve gained a lot of experience writing a bit of everything. What I really want to write is mystery and horror. Maybe in the same project? Something to consider...
Anyway, in the case of Feathertouch Impact, I’ve been getting back into the Kpop scene listening to a few new artists, and it was once again inspiring me to write an idol-based story of some kind. I always have an AU at the ready when the mood strikes me, but one day, I ended up reading a manga that was so........ how to say this....... questionable in its execution that I decided to pivot gears and do something a bit more original. I wanted to use this as a chance to:
- build concrete characters in a short time
- write guilt-free smut and let go a little bit
- put my displeasure to use (aka put my money where my mouth was)
- distract myself and just have fun
Writing Hwa Young and Yuseong has been a fun time because I got to do research, watch more Kpop videos, and write two characters who just get each other. The plan is to write another book, which is currently in the works, and then...? I’m not entirely sure! With these two, I’m sure it wouldn’t be too difficult to keep slapping some stories together to really shape their world and reinforce their relationship.
Now, if I’m honest, I would probably write another anthology, and then write a full linear-plot novel (or light novel) to concretely lay out everything that I have created in their world. It’s the plan. Or at least a plan. For as fun as it could be to write numerous anthologies about these two telling their stories over and over, I also don’t want to lock myself into that sort of project.
However, the best part is ultimately the loophole. If I ever felt the need to write them without making it a whole production, I can just slam out a few oneshots and post them like I’ve been doing so far on AO3.

SOME ADDITIONAL THOUGHTS—
It’s some important to just have fun with your work that it’s not even funny. Especially these days. I’ve been falling at the seams over my writing for a number of reasons on top of the fact that I’m still trying to find The One Hobby that I can turn into a profitable source of income. It’s a mess; it’s an age-old story. It’s both nothing you’ve never heard of before and not quite as simple as I’m making it seem by painting it with a broad brush.
Feathertouch Impact and its characters were a fun breath of fresh air. I know that people aren’t into idol-related media, but I do hope that people read it and give it a chance if only because it is a smutty good time.
Feathertouch Impact is currently for sale on itch.io for $8. You will get a PDF and thank you card for your purchase! Click here to visit the shop page or use the widget below:
