This takes place between the events of Feathertouch Impact and the soon to be released sequel and features several guest characters. (Can also be read on AO3.)
“Maybe we should have gone for something a little more original?”
Yuseong, who was in the middle of deciding whether or not to use the only button on the bright yellow trench coat, raised a brow at Hwa Young. “‘We,’ he says as if he’s the only one not in cosplay.”
Hwa Young laughed softly, a tad tired. “I mean, what I’m doing isn’t exactly original either.”
At that, Yuseong gave his partner his full attention. Hwa Young was in a form fitting black shirt that was shredded from the navel down to the hem. Wide leg pants hung low around his hips and fell freely around his feet, completely covering them from view. Gold, black, and silver chains of varying lengths decorated his waist. Yuseong’s eyes drifted higher to the impressive scar makeup around Hwa Young’s neck that made it seem as if the skin wore down from a deep, brutal abrasion.
Yuseong gave the other man a flat look. “You’re saying that to get compliments from me.”
“Huh?!” The way Hwa Young suddenly looked lively was almost humourous. Yuseong disguised his amusement with a huff.
He then glanced over to the character reference sitting open on his tablet, looked down at himself, and then decided to leave the entire thing alone. He wasn’t really shy about showing his body, but he was very aware of how their fans always reacted when his chest was on display. He closed his eyes and let out a long sigh through his nose. He still regretted asking Hwa Young to explain some English tweets to him after one of their pin-up style promos went live a few years back. He still did a double take whenever he picked up a glass of milk.
The colour scheme wasn’t his style, but he wanted to be a good sport about things. And plus, their friends had already loudly approved of their costume choices as did their label. So, he might as well see it through at this point. He didn’t play video games; he wasn’t really into horror movies, either, so the entire premise of the game was a bit lost on him. But looking at himself in the mirror, turning this way and that, he had to admit that the yellow contacts were a pretty decent look on him.
There was a knock on the door shortly after. Both idols turned to see a shaggy haired idol grinning at them from the door. “Let’s go, losers! The bus is here!” Ace flashed them a gummy smile, showing off the piercing resting under her lip in the process. Looking at Yuseong, she gasped and pointed from her head to his a few times. “Same hair.”
Yuseong huffed again, allowing a small smile to form on his face. “Same hair.”
She then looked at Hwa Young and frowned. “What’s wrong?”
“Tired,” he said, still keeping his voice light.
“Awww.” Ace tipped her head against the door frame. “You’re getting old~”
“I knooooow, aaaaaaugh.” Hwa Young dramatically groaned, staggering forward a few steps until he dropped down to one knee.
Ace reached out to pat his head. “There, there. It’s okay. You’ll always be the youngest of us at heart.”
“You sound like my mom,” he replied.
“Are you done?” Yuseong asked as he came to the other man’s side.
Hwa Young flicked his head to look at him, causing curly hair to bounce above his head. “Mhm.” He took Yuseong’s hand when it was offered to him and proceeded to stand.
Yuseong didn’t even so much as groan. Hwa Young, though taller, weighed nothing to him. When he was standing, however, Yuseong said, “You’re older than me.” It was just barely chastisement.
But Hwa Young smiled down at him. “Mhm!” A sharp and playful nod of his head caused his hair to bob again.
Yuseong rolled his eyes and reluctantly let the other man go. “Anyway. Ace?”
She pushed away from the door and waved for them to follow after her. “C’mon, let’s go!”
Her costume was a lot brighter than theirs with holographic materials, and her oversized, scrunched socks made her look so much younger. She rapped loudly as they went down the halls; it was hard not to enjoy the way her voice bounced off the walls in the empty space. Hwa Young bobbed his head and danced a bit as they followed behind her. Yuseong, ever subdued, simply nodded along.
When they reached the chartered bus, there were almost fifteen other recognisable faces there with a few people neither of them knew. But they greeted everyone the same. Some introductions were thrown around. Hilariously, one of the new faces only recognised Hwa Young by his solo persona, LiLY.
Yuseong then resigned himself to losing conversational rights with Hwa Young for the rest of the bus ride. So, he crawled up a few seats to chat up a couple of the other idols as well. Maybe it was because everyone was in such high spirits, but the bus ride didn’t feel as long as it took at all.
“Shoot first, and then onto the party!” shouted one of the idols now standing near driver, and the bus erupted into cheers.
As soon of the bus doors opened, the twenty or so idols all emptied out and walked to the elaborate looking building. The architecture was “post-modern”, and even this late in the evening without the full focus of sunlight, it was an eye-catcher. Neither Hwa Young nor Yuseong knew exactly what post-modern meant. All they knew was that this building was designed to look like a shaking Jenga tower, and it had accomplished that in spades.
The inside was a bit more familiar territory, thankfully. The duo hung in the back and followed the throng to the fully set up photography studio. The room had been painted solid black, but the standing soft lights and reflectors managed to brighten up the place a bit. When they entered, the photography team jumped up to greet them. Even though they were being energetic, Hwa Young still greeted them and introduced himself with a sympathetic smile.
At the end, Ace clapped her hands loudly before throwing them up in the air. “Let’s goooo!” she cheered. Everyone matched her energy with similar cries. Hwa Young’s heart wasn’t entirely in it, but he tried anyway. Had to keep appearances, after all!
Thankfully, what followed after was easy. He could just turn his brain off and go through the motions. There was a bit more flexibility than the average photoshoot, however. People could jump in and out as they pleased, unless the photographer said something about it. The first dozen photos were all taken in the dry studio. Afterward, the fans and water system were turned on, just enough to simulate a light rain.
Yuseong grabbed Hwa Young by the wrist and yanked him to his feet. Hwa Young stared at him in surprise. “You want to get wet?” Hwa Young asked without thinking.
And maybe it was his imagination, but Yuseong actually seemed to chew on his response. In the end, he chose to say, “It’s for fun, right?”
It was, of course, but Hwa Young still smirked at him as they went to stand before the cameras. At first, it was just the two of them—the brightly coloured pop idol killer with the mysterious dullahan—but everyone so often, someone or multiple someones would jump up to join them. ORIN joined them both, and she added a touch of mystery with her femme fatale style. Hwa Young jogged out of the photo so that she and Yuseong could take pictures with him dipping her with one hand and his bat poised to kill with the other.
Ace and Hwa Young took more comedic photos with one they posed to make it look like she was running away with his head. It took... a while. That much was sure. No one took out their phones, but only the photo team, with all their equipment, knew how long everything took. Still, it was an exciting shoot, and everyone said their goodbyes. One of the staff broke off to show the idols to the rooms they could use to dry off.
Heading down the winding, now architecturally matching quirky halls, they could hear the booming music in the wing over. That only motivated everyone to get dry as fast as possible so that they could join the festivities.
The FaBLE duo snatched a room where they could be alone, and there were a stack of half-length towels waiting for them. Hwa Young freed his hair from its elastic before dabbing at the curls aggressively. Because his hair was dyed a light purple hue, Yuseong had to make sure that none of the pigment stained the towel. To his surprise, the colour held. Hwa Young watched him in the mirror before saying,
“It’ll be a nice look. A bit surprising to the fans.”
“Mmm.” Yuseong kept drying himself off. “Might have to dye it back after though.”
“Probably.” Hwa Young sidestepped over and plucked at the strands. “Just enjoy it while it lasts.”
“Sure.” Yuseong looked down at himself. “The blood didn’t last worth a damn, though.”
Hwa Young grinned when he heard the phrase from his partner. “I bet they caught it on camera.”
“Ah, true. Can’t wait to see the photos.”
That earned a laugh from Hwa Young. “If they come out this year! I’m sure it’ll be an editing nightmare.”
Yuseong watched him in the mirror, just quietly enjoying the way Hwa Young smiled. “True… but we’ll see.” He spent another minute or so dabbing at the trench coat to make sure it didn’t drip water everywhere before being satisfied with his results. Then, he turned to face Hwa Young. “How’re you holding up?”
“Same as before. A little more drained though.”
Yuseong walked closer. “We could have stayed home.”
“Yeeeeah, but.” Hwa Young shrugged. “I wanted to get out. I think it’d be good for both of us to keep up with people every now and again.”
“Overrated,” Yuseong muttered as he stood completely behind Hwa Young. He coaxed the taller man to turn around. Hwa Young did so, and Yuseong dropped his hands on the counter to either side of his partner.
They held each other’s eyes, light grey meeting yellow, and an unspoken tension rose between them. Yuseong’s eyes trailed down, and he stared at the wet fabric of Hwa Young’s shirt cling to his chest.
“Not bad.”
In returned, Hwa Young looked straight down and stared at Yuseong’s ample chest under the coat. “I’ll say.”
Yellow met light grey once again. Yuseong pushed closer and pressed his chest against Hwa Young’s wet torso. “You’re going straight to bed when we get home.”
Hwa Young’s eyes flicked down to his lips. “But what if I’m not tired when we get there?”
Yuseong tipped his head and lowered his voice slightly. “Well. I’m sure I know a few ways to help you. After all, you’ve given me a lot of things to work with.”
“Sounds promising.”
A polite knock, and Yuseong backed away as the door quietly opened. ORIN nodded her head in greeting before saying, “Letting you know that most of us are headed to the dance floor. I wanted to say good night in case I didn’t see you.”
Hwa Young turned on his charm and smiled brightly at her. “We’ll see you out there. If not, have fun. You look killer.”
Her smile was small but beautiful, elegance down to refinement. She pointed at Yuseong and winked. “I don’t think that’s me.”
He returned her smile. At that moment, Hwa Young drew a similarity between them when it came down to their expressions. “True enough. Night, Orin.”
She wiggled her fingers at them before politely exiting. They waited for a few seconds before looking at each other. Hwa Young shrugged. “Shall we go?”
“Sure.” Yuseong folded his towel with quick flicks of his hands and then did the same for Hwa Young, who just watched him with a fond expression.
Yuseong noticed but didn’t comment. He didn’t dare risk that kind of embarrassment, even if they were alone. However, it only seemed that his cold shoulder spurred Hwa Young into action because soon, his hand was caught and lifted. Hwa Young lifted it up to his lips and met Yuseong’s eyes as he kissed the man’s knuckles.
Something so simple shouldn’t have been so… heated. But it was those eyes, the intensity of his style. He was surprised when his voice didn’t catch as he asked, “Are you done?”
Hwa Young smiled against his skin. “Mhm…” Another kiss. “Alright, I feel like I’m about to tap out. Let’s get out there, quick.”
Yuseong nodded, more than happy to lead the way to the party.
It was… well, a party with all the luxury that came with having multiple A- and B-listers under one roof. More than half the people here hit the 22 minimum age limit, with the more mature idols keeping each other company in the private sitting areas lining the wall. It was a veritable who’s who gathering. FaBLE mixed in with various company and would spend minutes swimming through the crowd to find each other when the mood struck them.
Always one to keep his promise, Yuseong did little things here and there that could pass off as innocuous to keep Hwa Young awake. He skimmed a hand over the perfectly round ass. He occasionally pressed himself back against Hwa Young, either passing it off as making room for someone to pass in front of him or making it look like an “accidental bump.” No one seemed to notice, and if anyone did, who really cared?
Every so often, they broke away from conversation to go get water, but that was little more than an excuse for Yuseong to coax Hwa Young down to whisper promises in his ear. He was quietly thankful when the time came for them to call it quits. Club life was always hit or miss with him, but even he was starting to feel the effects of their busy day. He followed Hwa Young around the club to say their good-byes, and Hwa Young tried to make it as quick as possible.
Part of him was dog tired, but the other was staying away to be obstinate. It was the part of him that wanted to see what Yuseong had in store for him if he managed to stay awake all the way to their apartment. At the end of their rounds, he pulled Yuseong to the side to make sure they left with everything they came with.
Yuseong scrunched up his nose. “Nothing in the shoot room or the bus?”
Hwa Young patted himself down again, and only then did it register with him. His phone. He hadn’t been thinking about it all night, but Yuseong double checking him made him suddenly alert. Even Yuseong was caught off guard by how awake he seemed.
“Damn. Alright, let’s check to see if the shoot room is open still.”
“Okay.”
They left quickly, soon navigating the angular halls that led them back the way they came. As expected, the doors were firmly locked at this time, and the interior was pitch black. Yuseong stared at Hwa Young as he tried both handles and grimaced as he peeked through the narrow vertical windows.
“I hope it isn’t in there,” Hwa Young muttered.
Yuseong dipped a hand under his coat and rubbed along his lower back. “Hope not. Let’s check the room just in case.”
“Alright.”
Hwa Young led the way again, his footsteps a bit faster now. When they reached the rooms, he tried the handle again, and the door swung open for them. He sighed in relief before stepping aside to let Yuseong enter first.
“Even like this, you’re still polite.”
“Some things just come naturally,” Hwa Young muttered as he followed. “Besides, I ain’t have it whopped into me for nothing,” he added in English.
Yuseong understood but was also barely listening as he beelined for where Hwa Young had been standing at the mirrored vanity. Hwa Young paused in the middle of the room to look around the floor, and Yuseong took that as his opportunity to slip the cell phone underneath their towels. He pretended to skim the vanity a bit longer before lifting them up and saying,
“Hwacho. Come here.”
Hwa Young didn’t need to be told twice. He strutted over quickly, and relief flooded him immediately when he saw his phone laying there. “God, yeah. It’s time to go home.” He snatched up the phone and made quick work of tucking it into his waistband. “Thanks, bae.”
He dipped down to kiss Yuseong on the lips. It was meant to be quick, but Yuseong took gentle hold of his wrist. That prompted Hwa Young to slow down and savour the kiss. As much as he wanted to get home, he couldn’t help but get himself lost in this. Yuseong thumbed idly at the bone of Hwa Young’s wrist.
He broke the kiss enough to say, “I’ve a confession.”
“Oh no.” Hwa Young kissed him again. “What did you do?”
“Might have lied.” Another kiss. “To get you in here.” One more.
Hwa Young laughed and leaned back to stare down at him. “Well, you got me good.”
“Mm.”
“Is that my trick for tonight?”
Yuseong guided him to lean against the counter, mimicking their pose from before. “Should keep you for another year or two.”
“Right, sure. Until you attack me when I’m vulnerable again.” Hwa Young tipped his head when Yuseong went for his neck. Soft lips skimmed over dark skin before nipping at the curve of his shoulder.
“You were not ‘attacked.’ Shut up.”
Hwa Young laughed and sank a little in place. He spread his legs a bit before locking himself in place. He kept his hands on the counter as Yuseong teased him with passing affection.
“But I’m at your mercy right now,” he said before long. “Big bad killer like you… Just what’re you gonna do to tired old me?”
Yuseong’s hands floated down to Hwa Young’s hips, which he coaxed closer to his own. “Nothing you can’t handle,” he promised.
Hwa Young’s heart fluttered at the words. “You’re bold tonight, aren’t you, Jae-Suk…?”
Yuseong looked up at him then, and the fluttering feeling shot down to Hwa Young’s groin. Those bright contacts were absolutely breathtaking in every way that mattered. “Blame the costume,” was the only response he got before Yuseong bit into his skin.
It wasn’t often that Hwa Young was the one being treated so roughly, but he wasn’t about to complain. The slow build up swept over him like an unassuming tide, and by the time the swells of pleasure came to claim him, he was drawn in by the inescapable tide. Yuseong rocked against him slowly and worked Hwa Young up until he was mindlessly reciprocating. Hwa Young freed a hand from the counter to cling onto Yuseong as they rutted together like two desperate teens. Occasionally, he was kissed, but mostly, kisses and bites were left on his skin interchangeably.
Yuseong worked at a spot at the curve of his shoulder until a nice bruise formed. It took everything in Hwa Young not to moan the entire time. He panted; he bucked. His mind swam back and forth between tired and arousal, but somehow, this bizarre combination was still doing it for him. He felt drunk on the sensations.
“Jae-Suk,” he hissed as he matched Yuseong thrust for thrust. Yuseong’s grip tightened on his hip, and Hwa Young gasped suddenly when the pace kicked up a notch. “Ah– ah– fuck…” He leaned forward to hide his face against Yuseong’s shoulder and hopefully to muffle the moans he desperately wanted to release.
“I’m right here.” Yuseong kissed at his ear. “Let go, Seong-han.”
Hwa Young grabbed onto Yuseong with both hands now and gladly submitted to the pleasure that was quickly overwhelming him. He hold onto Yuseong’s arms, then his shoulders, before finally pulling him into an embrace. He clamped his thighs on Yuseong to hold him still as he finally found his release. Yuseong stroked along his spine. He dotted small kisses along Hwa Young’s neck and shoulder as he came down.
“Better?” he asked when the trembling and involuntary bucks of Hwa Young’s hips stopped.
“Much. And now I’m exhausted.”
“Good.” Yuseong gave him a firm pat on the back before drawing away. “I’ll call a cab.” He led them to the entrance.
After a few seconds and after double checking himself to make sure everything was actually there, Hwa Young followed after. “And I’ll do my best to fall asleep in the car.”
“Don’t. I’ll leave you in there.”
“Wow, another trick. Time sure flies, huh?”
Yuseong opened the door with one hand and yanked Hwa Young down again. “Shut up already.”
Hwa Young smiled but accepted the kiss that followed. Finally, they exited the building, taking the nearest exit someone had told them about at the party. Hwa Young looked over Yuseong from behind before perking up again.
“Ah. Your bat.”
Yuseong scoffed. “Just leave it. I’ll either see it or I won’t.” He pulled out his phone for a ride. “Trick or treat, Happy Halloween — all that jazz, right?”
Hwa Young laughed and hugged him from behind. “Sure. That’s the spirit.”
